Bruno De Filippi is born in Milan on May 8, 1930 and dedicates all his life to music.Since his first years he shows a special passion for music. At the age of seven, his uncle Andrea shows him how to put his fingers on mandolin strings, teaching him his first chords.Bruno meets pianist Don Friedman in the ’90s, and they begin to collaborate. Several albums are recorded, and they tour in Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Indonesia and Hong Kong. As a duo, they achieve significant success with the public and with critics.

In the ’80s and ’90s Bruno is on important stages, often performing in duets with those whom he considers his masters for guitar and harmonica: Barney Kessel e Toots Thielemans. He shares with them true friendship and a special feeling – so clear when one listens to these performances.Big bands jazz is what Bruno likes the most. His joy and talent merge when he is invited to solo with the Jazz Class Orchestra and, later, with Enrico Intra’s Big Band and Paolo Tomelleri’s Big Band.
As mature musician, he offers talented young Italian  musicians the chance to perform with him. Proudly enough, several of them are currently famous and appreciated professionals in the international jazz scene (see “links”).
In April 2000, during a ceremony held at “Società del Giardino” in Milan, a special award is presented to Bruno for his special contribution to music.
In his last decade Bruno goes on playing, recording and traveling everywhere (very proud of having completely toured the world three times between years 2000 and 2009 !). He has a grand time with his music friends spread over all continents, and he continues to perform planned concerts as well as improvised jam sessions with them.Although hit by a severe and painful illness, he is able to play in public until just a few weeks before the end of his life. This happened on January 16, 2010.
